On solar daytime ii of our Tokyo-in-the-New-Year weekend, nosotros went to this awesome expanse called Asakusa. I LOVED this neighborhood! The bully Senso-ji temple was the showtime stop, which is the oldest Buddhist temple inwards Japan. The Japanese people endeavour to teach to a temple equally approximately the novel yr equally possible to pray together with teach skillful luck for the year. This is the Kaminarimon, or Thunder Gate, that you lot exceed through to come inwards the shrine.
Then you lot walk downwards this long aisle of shops (yes, shops!) alongside booths selling all sorts of things, this shopping street has a history of centuries. Once again, nosotros are moving alongside the masses!
This store was selling an array of rice crackers.
You also exceed through the Hozomon Gate to teach to the temple’s primary hall.
Inside the primary hall is the five storey pagoda along alongside the primary shrine.
What?! I guess I didn’t get got a film of the primary shrine! Haha! Oh well, adjacent time. Then nosotros hitting the surrounding nutrient stalls for lunch. The girls loved their yakisoba.
I had the beef on a stick. Wonderful flavor, however, the cutting had together with then much fatty (which is typical here) together with the residue was together with then tough, I had to begin over or I would still survive chewing!
So, adjacent nosotros decided to follow the crowd together with teach a fish-on-a-stick. I didn’t enjoy eating the skin/bones/tail, similar almost people, but opening upwards the fish together with eating the meat out was wonderful.
This is i of the Buddha statues, Tokyo Skytree is inwards the distance.
Next, nosotros took a cruise through Tokyo on the Sumida River. We passed nether thirteen dissimilar bridges en route. This was our boat.
This is the famous Rainbow Bridge, that crosses Tokyo Bay.
I actually liked this reddish bridge. Eva is practicing her Japanese sign language!
Some cool architecture.
After the cruise nosotros wandered Asakusa a chip earlier heading back. I only loved this area!
We saw lots of ladies inwards kimono for the novel year.
We saw a cute wheel rider patiently waiting for the light-green light.
We saw lots of rickshaw’s! And, yes, the girls kept quest for a ride!
I hated this solar daytime to come upwards to an end, but at to the lowest degree nosotros got to encounter some cheerful bears inwards the Tokyo traffic on the ride home!
Even better, a beautiful sunset behind Mt. Fuji! Looking forrad to 2014!
